For easy access to some of Final Draft’s most popular tools, Final Draft Writer has introduced our Floating Toolbar. When you open a document, you will see the Floating Toolbar at the bottom of your screen:
When you can highlight a part of the script you’re looking to edit, the toolbar will move to appear next to that selection:
Each of the icons on the Floating Toolbar represents a different tool you can use. If you hover your mouse over one, you will see what each icon represents. In order, from left to right:
UNDO
Allows you to “undo” an edit you just made to your script.
REDO
The opposite of “undo.” If you regret using the “undo” button, click “redo” and it will reinstate the edit you just removed.
ELEMENT
This will allow you to change the Element of a specific piece of text. Click to place your cursor on the section you are looking to change. Then, click the Element button and select the Element you’d like to use from the list. The entire section of text will change to that Element:
BOLD
Highlight the text you wish to edit. Then click on the “B” for Bold. The text you selected will now appear in bold.
ITALICS
Highlight the text you wish to edit. Then click on the “I” for Italics. The text you selected will now appear italicized.
UNDERLINE
Highlight the text you wish to edit. Then click on the “U” for Underline. The text you selected will now appear underlined.
STRIKETHROUGH
Highlight the text you wish to edit. Then click on the “S” for Strikethrough. The text you selected will now appear with a strikethrough.
TEXT COLOR
Highlight the text you wish to edit. Then click on the “T” for Text Color. A menu of available colors will open. Select the one you wish to use, and your selected text will appear in that color.
HIGHLIGHT
Highlight the text you wish to edit. Then click on the Highlight icon. A menu of available colors will open. Select the one you wish to use, and your selected text will appear highlighted in that color.
DUAL DIALOGUE
Highlight two consecutive lines of Dialogue. Then, press this button. They will appear side-by-side, indicating that the lines should be spoken concurrently.
SCRIPTNOTE
