This could be a number of things, but it's most likely that Final Draft is already open but not visible.

Hold down the Command key (next to the Spacebar) and tap the Tab key. This will display an icon bar with all open applications.

Hit the Tab key until the Final Draft icon is highlighted and let go of the keys (you can also click it with the mouse). Now you should see "Final Draft" next to your Apple menu.
