For Windows users:
This is usually due to a conflict between Windows and Final Draft. To resolve this error, please uninstall Final Draft, then reinstall FD as administrator. To do so:
1. Download the installer from our website: https://www.finaldraft.com/support/
2. Open the zip file, then drag the Final Draft Setup file to the Desktop.
3. Hold down the shift key and right-click the installer.
4. Choose Copy as Path.
5. Click on your Start Menu and type "cmd" in the search. Then right-click Command Prompt and choose Run as Administrator
6. Right-click in the command prompt window (following the symbol) and the file path of the installer will paste in automatically.
7. Press Enter.
8. Click Run and the installer should open.
For Mac users:
An anti-virus or anti-malware program may be causing this problem. To solve it:
- Restart your computer;
- Pause, disable, stop, quit or force-quit any anti-virus or anti-malware program that's running (per their directions);
- Launch Final Draft and try to activate.
Once Final Draft has been activated, you can turn your anti-virus or anti-malware program back on.
