You are able to have Final Draft installed on as many computers as you like. You may only have it signed in or activated on two computers at once, however.
To install Final Draft on a new computer, select your version and operating system via the the installer links available HERE for FD13/12/11/10.
After installing and opening the program, you'll be prompted for an email and password (Final Draft 13 only) or a Customer Number (Final Draft 12/11/10.) Please note that you only need a password for Final Draft 13.
If you're unsure of your Customer Number, you can retrieve it here.
If you're told you need to deactivate, follow these steps to move the activation to a new computer:
- Open Final Draft on the old computer, go to Help > Deactivate, and follow the prompts.
- Download the installer on the new computer.
- Launch the program and activate via Help > Activate.
If you see a "no more activations" message and can't deactivate from the old computer, visit the self service activation reset page HERE.

IMPORTANT: This article applies to Final Draft 13/12/11/10 only. FD9 and older cannot be activated or reactivated on any computer. The installers for FD9 and older are no longer available and all support for these versions has been discontinued. Final Draft 10 technical support is discontinued as of February 1st, 2025. Final Draft 10 activation support is discontinued as of June 30th, 2025. You may purchase an upgrade to the latest version of Final Draft by clicking here.
NOTE: Activation service for Final Draft 9 has been discontinued and this version of Final Draft is no longer activatable (or re-activatable) to run in full mode on any computer. The program will continue to work but only on a computer that is already activated and only if nothing is done to the computer that will deactivate it (such as an OS upgrade or a replacement hard drive). Final Draft 10 activation support is discontinued as of June 30th, 2025.
