As of Final Draft 13.1.0, the Outline Editor will automatically move beats to make room when a new beat is added! This is called Ripple Inserting.
For example, if we create a new beat (shown in yellow, T&M Take A Rest), and aim to insert it on page 12 of Outline 2, the beat "T&M grow closer" is currently beginning at page 12.
But, with Ripple Inserting, if we click and drag the new beat to page 12, it will automatically insert that beat at page 12 and move the other beats to make room, also changing their page goals to account for the new beat.
Ripple inserting is automatically turned on, and requires Final Draft 13.1.0 or later to work. If you have FD13, you may go to Help > Check for Updates to get up to date.
If you're on FD12 or earlier and need to purchase an upgrade, you can do so by clicking here.
