Before they "go to pages" (write action and dialogue), many writers and writing teams first outline their stories using real or virtual cards to lay out the "beats" of a script: this enables them to view the story at a macro level.
The Beat Board operates in the same way and allows you to compile and organize your ideas, notes, story points, scene fragments, scenes, sequences, acts, plot structure, the arc of a show season or even a series itself.
To access the Beat Board go to View > Beat Board:
The Beat Board displays a field in which you may insert and arrange Beats (think of them as virtual index cards or sticky notes):
