Question
In Final Draft 7 / 6 / 5, dual dialogue at the bottom of the page of a locked script moves to the top of the next page or creates an "A" page when the file is closed and re-opened.

Answer

This is a known issue that has been resolved, although the fix is not available for Final Draft 7 / 6 / 5. Information on the upgrade to Final Draft 10 is HERE.

The issue sometimes occurs with dual dialogue (two characters speaking at the same time with the dialogue side by side). The workaround for this is:

  1. Un-dual dialogue the text by double-clicking on it;
  2. Add a blank space after it (use a General element);
  3. Re-dual dialogue the text;
  4. Place the cursor on the line after the blank element;
  5. Go to Production > Locking Tools. Click Adjust Current Locked Page;
  6. Click OK at warning;
  7. Select the proper page number;
  8. Click OK.

In most cases this solution will take care of the problem.

NOTE: All support for Final Draft 7 and older, including software activation, has been discontinued. You may find solutions to problems in the online knowledge base or in the PDF manual found on the installation CD.
