Question
After I enter my Final Draft 10 / 9 Customer Number and click Activate, I get a message saying the number is invalid.

Answer

If you're copying the Customer Number from the purchase email (or some other place), it's possible that you have inadvertently included a blank space before or after the number. This will cause the program to read the number incorrectly. Re-copy only the number -- no extra spaces before or after -- and paste it in.

If you're typing the Customer Number in, be aware that there are no zeroes or ones in it, they are the letters O as in Oscar and I as in India. Capitalize the letters and include a hyphen between every 4 characters: XFD- / 9FDS-ABC2-EFG3-HIJ4-KLM5*.

Restarting the program after a failed activation may also help.

Also, using a Customer Number from an older version of the software (i.e. Final Draft 8 / 7) will return this error message.

*This is a sample number and will not work in the program.
