Adding New Script Templates

Answer

Windows:

After you have downloaded the compressed file, double-click it to uncompress it. You should see the template icon(s).

Open these folders:

  1. This PC (Windows 10 / 8); Computer (Windows 7 / Vista); My Computer (Windows XP);
  2. Local Disk C
  3. Program Files [or Program Files (x86)]
  4. Final Draft 10 / 9 / 8 / 7
  5. Templates (FD10 / 9) or Stationery (FD8 / 7)
  6. Scripts

Move the new template(s) into the Scripts folder and close all the windows. When you open Final Draft and go to

  • File > New from Template > Scripts (FD10 / 9)
  • File > New from Stationery > Scripts (FD8)
  • File > New > Scripts (FD7)

you will see the new template(s) on the menu.


Macintosh:

After you have downloaded the compressed file, double-click it to uncompress it. You should see the template icon(s).

If you have FD10 / FD9.0.5 or later:

FD10 / 9: In a Finder window, go to the Go menu > Applications and right-click or Control + click on the Final Draft 10 / 9 application icon;

Choose Show Package Contents;

  1. Go to Contents > Resources > Data > Templates
  2. Drag the template(s) into the Scripts folder.

If you have FD9.0.4 or earlier / FD8.0.3.1:

  1. FD9: In a Finder window, go to the Go menu > Applications and right-click or Control + click on the Final Draft 9 application icon;
  1. FD8: In a Finder window, go to the Go menu > Applications > Final Draft 8 folder and right-click or Control + click on the Final Draft 8 application icon;
  2. Choose Show Package Contents;
  3. Go to Contents > Mac OS > Data > Templates (FD9) or Stationery (FD8 / 7);
  4. Drag the template(s) into the Scripts folder.

NOTE: These instructions do not apply to the Mac App Store version of Final Draft.

If you have FD8.0.2 and earlier, open these folders:

  1. Macintosh HD
  2. Applications
  3. Final Draft 8 / 7
  4. Stationery
  5. Scripts

Move the new template(s) into the Scripts folder and close all the windows. When you open Final Draft and go to

  • File > New from Template > Scripts (FD10 / 9)
  • File > New from Stationery > Scripts (FD8)
  • File > New > Scripts (FD7)

you will see the new template(s) on the menu.

NOTE: Templates created for FD10 / 9 will not work in FD8 / 7; templates created for FD10 / 9 / 8 will not work in FD7.
