Question
Final Draft 7's Help section won't open on Windows.

Answer

Here's the fix:

  1. Go to Start > Run and type in the word "cmd" (without quotes);
  2. Press Enter and a Command window will open;
  3. Leave the Command window open and come back to this web page;
  4. Highlight and copy this text string (Control+C):

regsvr32 %systemroot%\system32\hhctrl.ocx

  1. Go back to the Command window and go to Edit > Paste. The copied text should appear;
  2. Press Enter. You should see a message indicating success;
  3. Repeat the process with this text string:

regsvr32 %systemroot%\system32\itss.dll

  1. Open Final Draft and press F1 on the keyboard or go to Help > Final Draft Help. The Help section should open.

NOTE: All support for Final Draft 7, including software activation, has been discontinued. You may find solutions to problems in the online knowledge base or in the PDF manual found on the installation CD.
