Question
Final Draft 7's Help section won't open on OS X 10.5 (Leopard).

Answer

There is a known issue with Final Draft 7's on-board help section on Leopard. Here is the workaround:

  1. Open Macintosh HD > Applications > Final Draft 7;
  2. Right-click or Control+click on the Final Draft 7 application icon;
  3. Choose Show Package Contents;
  4. Open the Contents folder;
  5. Open the Resources folder;
  6. Open the Final Draft 7 Help folder;
  7. Double-click the file named Final Draft 7 Help.htm and the Help section will open.

If you expect to be using the Help section frequently, you may want to create an alias and put it in a convenient place.

  1. Control-click or right-click the Final Draft 7 Help.htm icon to bring up the menu;
  2. Choose Make Alias. This will create an alias of the application icon;
  3. Drag the alias to the Desktop or some other place you can access easily. Don't move the original icon from this folder or the Help section won't work at all.

This issue does not occur on Snow Leopard (OS X 10.6).

NOTE: Live support for Final Draft 7 has been discontinued. You will still be able to install, activate and use FD7 on appropriate computers but email, chat and telephone support is no longer available. Live activation assistance is still available via phone (818-789-6281) and email and chat (links on the left side of this page).
