Can I transfer my User Dictionary from Final Draft 8 to Final Draft 9 (or vice-versa)?

Answer

MAC (retail version):

  1. Go the the Finder;
  2. Click on the "Go" menu in the the Finder menu while holding down the Option key;
  3. Choose "Library."
  4. Release the Option key. A new window should open with the contents of the "Library" folder;
  5. Open Containers > com.finaldraft.finaldraftappstore.v9 > Data > Library > Application Support > Final Draft > Final Draft 9 or Final Draft 8;
  6. Open the folder of the version whose User Dictionary you want to copy;
  7. Open "English (United States)";
  8. Copy "User Dictionary.fddct" (Command + C on the keyboard);
  9. Paste this file (Command + V) into the corresponding folder of the version to which you want to copy the User Dictionary.

MAC (App Store version):

  1. Go the the Finder;

  3. Navigate to c:\Users\<USER NAME>\AppData\Roaming\Final Draft\Final Draft 9 or Final Draft 8. Open the folder of the version whose User Dictionary you want to copy;
  4. Open "English (United States)";
  5. Copy "User Dictionary.fddct" (Control + C on the keyboard);
  6. Paste this file (Control + V) into the corresponding folder of the version to which you want to copy the User Dictionary.
