Question
Can I open a Final Draft script in Final Draft AV 2?

Answer

Yes. You must first save the Final Draft file as a File Converter File (.fcf):

Go to File > Export (FD10 / 9) or File > Save As (FD8 / 7).

Change the Save As Type or Format drop-down menu to File Converter File (.fcf). On Mac, choose File Converter File version 2.0.

Then open the newly-created .fcf file in AV 2.x and resave the document with a new name. Note that you will have to spend some time reformatting the material.

NOTE: All support for Final Draft 7 (and earlier) and AV, including software activation, has been discontinued. You may find solutions to problems in the online knowledge base or in the PDF manual found on the installation CD.
