Final Draft 8 has a streamlined system that enables you to activate your computer quickly via the web or by using our free live phone service.
When you launch the program for the first time, you will be prompted to enter your 8FD Customer Number. If you don't enter your Customer Number and choose Demo Mode, the program will print with a watermark and will not save any document longer than 15 pages.
If you enter your Customer Number and click Continue, you will be prompted to activate the software.
If you do not wish to activate the program at this time, choose Quit. Otherwise, choose Activate. You will be prompted to choose online or manual activation. If you have an internet connection, choose Online Activation.
The program will connect to our server and your copy of Final Draft will be activated. Click OK to open the program.
If you don't have an internet connection or have network restrictions, choose Manual Activation. A Challenge Code will be displayed; dial 818-789-6281 with that Challenge Code live on your screen and you will be given the appropriate Response Code. Enter the Response Code in that field, click OK and your copy of Final Draft will be activated.
IMPORTANT: Make sure you have your Challenge Code on your screen and your Customer Number available when you call. If the Challenge Code is no longer on screen it is no longer valid. A different Challenge Code is generated every time this window is opened and every Challenge Code requires its own unique Response Code. You must contact us while the Challenge Code is on your screen or the Response Code will not work. Note: We do not provide Response Codes via email.
NOTE: There is no need to write the Challenge or Response Code down; they will not be usable for another activation.
After Final Draft is activated, it will open, ready for you to begin writing.
IMPORTANT: Live technical support (phone, chat, email) for Final Draft 8 will end on December 31, 2017. You will still be able to find information and solutions in this knowledge base, in the online troubleshooter and in the FD8 User Guide.
