Question
How do I install FD8.0.3.1 on my Mac?

Answer

IMPORTANT NOTE: You must be logged in as Administrator to install Final Draft 8.0.3.1. If you are not an Administrator, contact the person in your organization responsible for maintaining your network or computers.

IF YOU ALREADY HAVE A PREVIOUS VERSION OF Final Draft 8 INSTALLED: All you need to do is deactivate before you run the 8.0.3.1 installer: Open Final Draft, go to Help > Deactivate and choose Online Deactivation. Quit the program (Command + Q) and run the 8.0.3.1 installer, which will overwrite the previous version.

If you're installing from the Final Draft install disc, place it in the CD-ROM drive. Double-click the FD Installer CD icon and double-click the installer file.

If you're installing from the download, simply double-click the installer file.

Click Continue at the next screen...

The Welcome window appears...

Click Continue and the Software License Agreement window appears. After you have read it, click Continue...

If you agree to the license terms, click Agree.

Click Continue...

Choose one foreign-language spell-checker to install (if you need one) and click Continue...

You may change the install location if you need to but this is not recommended. Instead, click Install...

Enter your Mac user name and Admin password and click OK...

...and the installation will start.

When this finishes, click Close to complete the installation.

The Mac Applications folder will open; double-click the Final Draft 8 folder and double-click the Final Draft 8 icon to launch the program.

You can drag the application icon to your Dock for easy access to Final Draft 8. Do NOT drag the application icon to your Desktop; it will not create an alias and may prevent the program from working properly.

IMPORTANT: Live technical support (phone, chat, email) for Final Draft 8 will end on December 31, 2017. You will still be able to find information and solutions in this knowledge base, in the online troubleshooter and in the FD8 User Guide.
